In the form of Mother, in one arm is a sword which destroys the enemies, in the other arm there is a flower which symbolizes affection towards the devotees, in the third arm the Abhaya Mudra which symbolizes providing freedom from fear to the devotees. The fourth arm of the Goddess is in Vara Mudra which grants blessings to the devotees for their devotion. So, taking the name of Maa Katyayani, let us take you towards Shaktipeeth Maa Baglamukhi.

Shaktipeeth Maa Baglamukhi is situated about 30 km away from Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Maa Baglamukhi has the eighth place among the ten Mahavidyas in Hindu mythology.

The history of Maa Baglamukhi temple is also related to Mahabharata. It is said that Pandavas also built a temple of Maa Baglamukhi during their exile and worshiped there. To conquer first Ravana and then Lanka, Shri Ram achieved victory by worshiping the enemy destroyer Maa Baglamukhi. Mother is also known as Pitambari.
Story related to Baglamukhi –
It is said that in Satyayuga there came a terrible storm which destroyed the entire world. On which the gods started worrying and went near Haridra Sarovar and started doing penance to please Bhagwati. Shri Vidya appeared from that lake in the form of Baglamukhi and appeared before him and calmed the destructive storm. It emerged at midnight of Mars containing Chaturdashi. Shri Baglamukhi is also known as Brahmastra.
