Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Mandi, April 08: A case of a 34-year-old woman committing suicide by hanging herself under suspicious circumstances has come to light in Drahal of Jogindernagar in Mandi district. The incident happened yesterday. After the incident, the mother’s side reached the daughter’s in-laws house and created a lot of ruckus. On this occasion, the maternal side also made serious allegations of torturing their daughter and forcing her to commit suicide. After which the police reached the spot and pacified the maternal side and took the body into their custody and started further action. On the spot, on the complaint of the maternal side, the police also detained the mother-in-law, father-in-law and soldier husband. On Monday, the police arrested the accused husband and father-in-law and sent them on police remand for three days.

After the post-mortem of the deceased woman, the last rites were performed under police guard on Monday afternoon. According to information received from the police, 34-year-old Aparna Devi of Drahal Panchayat of Jogindernagar committed suicide by hanging herself under suspicious circumstances yesterday afternoon. When the maternal side of Sarohli village of Sagnehar Panchayat came to know about the incident, they accused their in-laws of physically and mentally torturing their daughter and demanded strict action against the in-laws. According to the maternal side, the husband of deceased Aparna Devi was harassing her for the last 4 years.

The mother’s side alleges that whenever the woman’s husband Sanjeev Kumar used to come home on leave from the army, he used to beat her. The deceased’s brother Anshul and sister Kabu alleged that their brother-in-law had illicit relations with another woman. For this reason, his sister was harassing him for the last several years. While pleading for justice, he has raised the demand for strict action against the in-laws. Let us tell you that deceased Aparna Devi has two daughters aged 6 and 11 years.

On the other hand, considering the seriousness of the matter, the police had detained the deceased’s mother-in-law Sita Devi, father-in-law Nagesh Kumar and soldier husband Sanjeev Kumar yesterday.

DSP Padhar Dinesh Kumar confirmed the case and said that the husband and father-in-law of the deceased woman have been arrested. The real reasons will be known only after the post mortem report.
