The ban on inter-district transfer of 25 thousand JBT and 18 thousand C&V teachers serving in government schools of Himachal Pradesh only once during their service period has been removed by the state government.

The stay imposed on the notification issued on 20 November 2021 during the time of Jairam Thakur government has been removed by the Sukhu government.

During the month of November last year, due to large number of transfer applications, there was a ban for some time.

Himachal Education Department officials said that approval has been given to transfer only five percent of the district wise cadre strength of both categories of teachers in a year. Teachers who have completed five years of service including contractual service period have been made eligible for this.

In case of changing the district after marriage, women teachers have been exempted from the condition of minimum service period.

Earlier, JBT and C&V teachers were transferred to other districts after completion of 13 years of service.

This period has been reduced to five years. Apart from this, no minimum time period has been prescribed in the policy for transfer of teachers of JBT and C&V cadre with more than 60 percent disability from one district to another.

In special circumstances, it has been decided to give relaxation only on medical grounds in the cases of teachers with less than 5 years of service.

Under the inter-district policy, teachers seeking transfer will have to submit their applications to the office of the Deputy Director of Elementary Education of the concerned district.
