Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president JP Nadda is going to complete his tenure as Rajya Sabha MP on April 2. The Chief Electoral Officer is going to issue the notification of the election process to elect the new Rajya Sabha MP on February 8. The last date for filing nominations has been kept on 15th February. The nomination papers are going to be scrutinized on February 16.

At present, Congress has a majority government in Himachal Pradesh. In such a situation, it is almost certain that a Congress leader will be elected as a Rajya Sabha MP. There is talk of sending former Congress national president Sonia Gandhi or national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi was completely active in Himachal Pradesh during the assembly elections.

In such a situation, speculations are being made that if Priyanka Gandhi does not contest the Lok Sabha elections, she can enter the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh.

If Priyanka contests Lok Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi can be sent to Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh. Apart from these, the name of former Union Minister Anand Sharma is also being discussed for going to Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Himachal Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh have already told that the name of the leader going to Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh is going to be decided by the Congress Party High Command.
