There is a relief news for the gardeners worried about the lack of snowfall in the entire Himachal Pradesh. Despite no snow falling, the chilling hours required for a good apple crop are being met. Agricultural experts say that if observed, temperatures below 7 degrees and cold winds are also sufficient for the required chilling hours. However, according to agricultural experts, there is a great need for rain and snowfall for wheat crop, vegetables, moisture in fields, drinking water schemes and irrigation. The data from the weather stations installed in the gardens by the progressive gardeners of Himachal Pradesh is also confirming that the chilling hours have been completed.

Also, according to agricultural experts, for a good crop, it is very important for the temperature to remain below 7 degrees for 700 hours to 1400 hours in the dormant stage of the plant, depending on the variety.

When there is snowfall, the needs of the plants in their dormant state are fulfilled in a short time, but even when there is no snowfall, the chilling hours are fulfilled even if the temperature is below 7 degrees.

Know what the progressive gardeners of Himachal Pradesh are saying about chilling hours –

The garden of Lokendra Singh Visht, President of Progressive Growers Association, Himachal Pradesh, is at an altitude of 5100 feet in Anuwasa of Rohru, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh.

Progressive Growers Association Himachal Pradesh President Lokendra Singh Visht told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that according to the weather station installed in the apple orchard, 70 percent of the chilling hours have been completed. If the weather of Himachal Pradesh remains favorable even during the flowering time, then Lokendra Singh Visht claims that this year there is going to be an excellent crop of apples.

Young gardener Vishal Vecta, a resident of Banahar, Theog, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that according to the weather station installed in his garden, 810 chilling hours have been completed in his garden. Also Vishal Vecta said that the Gala variety requires only 700 hours. For all other varieties, chilling hours are expected to be 1200 hours even without ice.

Kuldeep Bragta, a progressive gardener from Madavg Taklech in Himachal Pradesh, told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that even if snow falls in the coming months of February and March, it will be enough for the gardeners.

Kuldeep Bragta told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that these days the night temperature in Himachal Pradesh is according to the chilling hour, but there is a dire need of rain and snowfall to maintain moisture in the land of Himachal Pradesh.

Chilling hours are being completed in Himachal Pradesh even without snowfall –

Even if there is no snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, the cool winds in front of the Himalayan range are enough for good apple production. Due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, the chilling hours end quickly when day and night temperatures remain the same. Even if Himachal Pradesh receives snowfall or good rainfall in the coming days, there will be enough chilling and humidity.
