All the farmers of India can now easily do smart farming of potatoes with the help of drones. Agri drone management for potato crop has been recommended by the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) after two years of careful testing. Trials for the use of drones were being conducted for two consecutive years at all the regional stations of the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) at Modipuram (Meerut) in Uttar Pradesh and Jalandhar in Punjab. In all these tests, it has been found that the use of drones is going to save the cost of production of potato crop, the time of the farmer and most of all water.

The test conducted by the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) has confirmed that only ten liters of water is sufficient to spray one acre of land through drones, whereas 100 to 150 liters of water is required Farmers to spray water in the traditional way.

Not only this, minimal quantity of nano fertilizers or pesticides is required for spraying by drone.

There will be no risk of harm caused by chemicals to the health of all farmers who spray through drones.

The potato crop is ready in a short period of 90 to 110 days to three months, due to which all the farmers are in need of frequent use of pesticides to protect the potato crop from serious diseases.

Spraying with drones is more economical for all farmers than spraying in the traditional way. Not only this, spraying water and chemicals on potato crops through drones can be done by all farmers with more accuracy and efficiency. During testing, better coverage of fine droplets emitted from the drone was found at three levels of potato plants, top, middle and bottom. The Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India has given two drones each to the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) and the Agricultural University of India for potato cultivation.

During trials, spraying pesticides on potato crops from drones has proven to be most effective for farmers. Through drones, farmers are going to save both the cost of their crops as well as time, and through drones, farmers can cultivate potatoes accurately and efficiently. On the basis of trials, the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) has officially recommended spraying with drones.
