CBI has flatly refused to pay the bills of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) worth Rs 21.96 lakh. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has once again been disappointed by the CBI letter coming from India’s capital New Delhi.

Tired of all the bills being settled between Himachal Pradesh government departments for almost four years, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) sent a letter to CBI demanding payment of all the bills. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) had made CBI officials the official guests at the State Guest House Peterhof Shimla for almost one and a half years in 2017 and 2018. CBI officials had six rooms in the state guest house Peterhof, Shimla. Also, CBI officials had made their base camp at State Guest House Peterhof, Shimla.

During this period, the entire management of food and water for the CBI officers was also done by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC).

The entire expense of all official guests is borne by the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Government of Himachal Pradesh. During the tenure of late Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s government, the CBI team had come to Himachal Pradesh to investigate this much talked about case, while the hospitality of CBI officers which started during the time of Virbhadra government, continued for a long time even during the tenure of Jairam Thakur government.

During the tenure of Jairam Thakur government, when Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) had prepared a bill of approximately Rs 21,96,590 and sent it to the General Administration Department (JAD) of Himachal Pradesh Government, the bills of HPTDC were not paid since that time.

After that, the bill of Rs 21,96,590 remained a football game between HPTDC, GAD and Himachal Pradesh Home Department. The football game of paying HPTDC bills went on between JAD and Home Department for almost four years.

Presently, when the Congress Party’s Sukhu government came to power in Himachal Pradesh just a year ago, when the matter of payment of bills of Rs 21,96,590 of HPTDC once again came up for review, it was decided by the Himachal Pradesh government that the CBI A letter should be written to the headquarters of New Delhi for payment of bills.

Now a letter has been received from New Delhi from Rajpal Singh, Superintendent of Police, SC-1 branch of CBI, in which it is clearly stated that the bills of Rs 21,96,590 of HPTDC are not going to be paid by the CBI Headquarters.

It has been said by CBI Headquarters that by law, the responsibility of posting of CBI officers was entrusted to Himachal Pradesh Government.

On the other hand, Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC), Dr. Rajeev Kumar told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that now the entire issue of payment of bills of Rs 21,96,590 of HPTDC has been seriously raised again with the Himachal Pradesh government.

When it was observed by the General Administration Department (JAD) of the Government of Himachal Pradesh that the CBI officers were not leaving the State Guest House Peterhof Shimla even after being detained for several months, then the Himachal Pradesh General Administration Department (JAD) repeatedly raised this issue & kept asking by when the CBI officials were going to vacate all the six rooms of the State Guest House Peterhof Shimla.

The General Administration Department (JAD) of the Government of Himachal Pradesh kept receiving replies from CBI officials that the investigation process was underway. After completion of the entire investigation process, all the six rooms of the State Guest House Peterhof Shimla will be vacated by the CBI with immediate effect.

CBI officials kept quoting an order of the Himachal Pradesh High Court to the Himachal Pradesh General Administration Department (JAD), due to which the Himachal Pradesh Government also had to make complete arrangements for the CBI officials in six rooms of the State Guest House Peterhof, Shimla.
