Himachal: Petrol and diesel consignments reached the districts, trucks started running on the roads; Bus services also started
Trucks parked in protest against changes in the law related to hit and run in the Motor Vehicle Act have started running on the roads for the third day from Wednesday. On the other hand, private bus services have also started smoothly. After the strike of truck drivers ended, the supply of petrol and diesel started reaching all the twelve districts of Himachal Pradesh late on Tuesday night and early morning on Wednesday. As soon as petrol and diesel tankers reached the petrol pumps of Himachal Pradesh, people started heaving a sigh of relief. Due to the truck drivers’ strike, the wheels of more than thirty thousand trucks had stopped in the entire Himachal Pradesh for two consecutive days. Due to non-operation of trucks, supplies from industries and the three cement factories of Himachal Pradesh – ACC Cement, Ambuja Cement and UltraTech Cement factories were completely halted.

Neither the raw material from outside states was being supplied by trucks nor the goods manufactured in the industries were being sent out. Due to the truck drivers’ strike, twelve thousand trucks from ten thousand UltraTech Cement, Ambuja Cement and ACC Cement factories were stranded in Nalagarh. Also, five hundred trucks were parked in Kala Amb industrial area of Himachal Pradesh and nine hundred trucks were parked in Kullu district.
On the other hand, in Bilaspur district, Sirmaur district and all other places including industrial area Baddi, more than one thousand private buses were parked by private bus operators in protest against the amendment law made in the Motor Vehicles Act. At the same time, the routes of HRTC buses were also clubbed by Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). On the other hand, 432 tankers of petrol and diesel were dispatched by all the oil companies to all the twelve districts of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
Ninety-six oil tankers by Hindustan Petroleum (HP), fourteen oil tankers by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), two hundred twenty-seven oil tankers by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) were dispatched to all the twelve districts of Himachal Pradesh.
On the other hand, fifty-five tankers of diesel were also sent by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). General Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Private Bus Drivers-Operators Union, Akhilesh Gupta, told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that after full assurance from the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, the strike has been called off by all the truck-bus drivers. Operation of all private buses will start from Wednesday.
Long queues of buses for diesel at HRTC’s Tutikandi petrol pump –
On the other hand, early on Wednesday morning, long queues of buses were formed at the Tutikandi petrol pump of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to fill diesel. Due to which long queues of HRTC buses had reached the crossing from Tutikandi petrol pump. There was a long traffic jam at Tutikandi Petrol Pump even in the early morning hours on Wednesday. HRTC buses and all vehicles going towards Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Tutikandi have been made to take a U-turn from near MC parking.
Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses are also being given diesel as much as they travel on a route.
Diesel supply is expected to arrive at HRTC petrol pumps after noon.
