The state’s first breastfeeding management unit will be established at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Ner Chowk in Mandi district. Like the blood bank, a mother milk bank will be created so that no newborn deprived of mother’s milk due to any reason remains without milk. Mother milk bank will reduce the infant mortality rate and will also provide relief from market milk. Machinery worth thirty lakhs has been purchased for this unit while tenders have been issued to purchase machinery worth forty five lakhs. It has been decided to start this unit completely by the month of November and work has started in that direction. With the installation of this unit, no newborn will be deprived of mother’s milk and this will also reduce the infant mortality rate because mother’s milk is considered the best food.
The work of its establishment has started. Some machinery has arrived, some is yet to come and our doctors have taken training, some staff nurses have taken it and we would like to start it by November and its benefit will be that the children who There will be a decline in the mortality rate and this will be the first breastfeeding management unit in the state. For those who are our small children, there will be a separate place for the mothers who are unable to express or receive any help from them. If there is a problem, pumps etc. are used for that and the milk will be sterilized and then given to the children.
