The Meteorological Department has today issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rains in eight districts of the state, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Solan, Hamirpur and Una, and orange alert for heavy rains in most parts of the state on August 24. has been issued.

Apart from this, a flash flood warning has also been issued in nine districts of the state. Due to heavy rains, one person died in a cloudburst at Kutlah near Pandoh in Mandi district this morning, while three villagers were rescued from the debris. There is news of a school and a house being destroyed in this incident.

Torrential rains have created a flood-like situation in Thadi near Solan district, in which many vehicles have been washed away and people’s homes are also in danger. Apart from this, there is news of landslides and falling trees in different parts of the state. .

Due to heavy rains for the last 24 hours, most of the state roads have been blocked due to landslides or falling of trees. The Shimla-Kalka National Highway has once again been blocked for traffic at Panch Chakki Road.
