J&K: Arrival of foreign tourists increased after G-20 Srinagar emerging as international activities

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that the UT has seen an increase in foreign tourist arrivals after the G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar. This figure is going to increase further in the coming months.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that the UT has seen an increase in foreign tourist arrivals after the G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar. This figure is going to increase further in the coming months. He also announced five marlas of land for the landless families of Jammu and Kashmir. Said that about two lakh homeless families are being provided houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Addressing the reporters at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor said that the G-20 meeting held in Srinagar from May 22 to 25 this year is proving to be a game changer for the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, the participants of the G-20 meeting have returned to their respective countries with a good message. We have seen a significant increase in foreign tourist arrivals in Jammu and Kashmir. This number will increase further in the coming months.

The LG said that Srinagar is fast emerging as a hub of international activities. He said, for the first time, Indian System of Medicine, Engineers Association, Chartered Accountants Association and 18 judges of the Supreme Court participated in various meetings in Srinagar recently. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced PM Awas Yojana and Jammu and Kashmir cannot lag behind in this.

Regarding Amarnath Yatra, said that the yatra is going on smoothly on both the tracks amid proper security arrangements. Responding to a question on media covering the Amarnath Yatra, the LG said, there is no restriction on the media. Those who want to have darshan, can have darshan without mike.

About 10467 people had darshan till Sunday. Till 11 am on Monday, the number of people who had darshan was 6801. BRO has done a commendable job in improving the track. 4000 sanitation workers are deployed for cleaning the garbage.
