G20 and S20 start with yoga in IIT Mandi, people from abroad are also participating in the conference.The G20 and S20 conference began with yoga on Wednesday at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. The first day of the ten-day conference saw the objective of bringing together key stakeholders and experts to collectively discuss various topics on working together to drive progress towards achieving the objective of inclusive and sustainable development.

The program started with a panel discussion on the physical and mental benefits of yoga and information through technology.

Yoga is the heritage of the country, now the world is recognizing it
Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Mandi and Dhanbad, Prof. Prem Vrat said that Yoga is the heritage of the country. The world is also recognizing it now. Launching the conference coinciding with the International Day of Yoga is a big and important initiative of the Institute. Yoga is the best Indian contribution to the world. It positively affects our physical, mental and spiritual health.

Yoga is not a religious ritual but a way of life

IIT Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera while welcoming the participants to the conference said that the theme of this mega event has been decided keeping in mind the need of technology interventions of the state and the country.

Yoga is not a religious ritual but a way of life. When we introspect, we feel something profound. It cannot be described in any language or words. Modern science is still trying to find a model that can explain this phenomenon.

Recognition of individual’s abilities with better mental health
Talking about the universal ideas of Patanjali Yoga Sutras regarding mind and mental health, Dr. of Center of Excellence, IIT Kharagpur. Richa Chopra said that better mental health is one such condition. In this a person understands his capabilities.

Recognizes the ability to work productively and contribute to society. Yogasutras of Patanjali which is also known as the science of mental discipline and through it also includes universal ideas about mental health.

Yoga is providing psychological and medical results
Prof. Dr. Satbir Khalsa of Harvard Medical School said that Yoga is an ancient conduct practice. This develops the skills of physical health along with mind-body awareness. Research on the benefits of yoga practices on physical, psychological and spiritual well-being is growing rapidly.
