Frank Lampard’s role as caretaker manager will also end at the end of this season. In taking on this role, Mr Pochettino has a job to do.
Despite spending £600m in the last transfer window, Chelsea are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League, and will end the season without any trophies. The team would also not play in European competition the following season.
Reporter, Paul Gilmour, said the choice of the Argentine was “genuine”, but that Mr Pochettino “knows how to get a group of players together”.
