Shimla, September 10: Many police stations of Himachal Pradesh do not have their own permanent vehicles. These include CID and traffic & tourist police stations. Nearly two dozen police stations of the state do not have their own permanent vehicles. This was disclosed by the Chief Minister himself in the monsoon session of the assembly.
In a written reply to the question of Indora MLA Malender Rajan, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Tuesday that there are 23 police stations in the state which do not have permanent vehicles. The Chief Minister said that 17 police stations of five districts do not have permanent vehicles. Nahan Sadar, Pachhad, Rajgarh and Shillai police stations of Sirmaur district do not have the facility of their own vehicles.
Similarly, Jhakri, Chirgaon and New Shimla police stations of Shimla district do not have their own permanent vehicles. Sayri and Baga of Solan district and Jogindernagar police station in Mandi district are the only police stations that do not have any permanent vehicle. In Kangra district, the maximum four police stations do not have their own vehicles. These include Jawalamukhi, Palampur, McLeodganj and women police station Dharamshala. Mehatpur, Tahliwal and women police station of Una district also do not have permanent vehicles.
No vehicle facility in three CID police stations
The Chief Minister said that three cyber crime police stations under the state intelligence department also do not have permanent vehicles. These include cyber crime police station Shimla, cyber crime police station Mandi and cyber crime police station Kangra. He said that similarly traffic and tourism police station Bhager in Bilaspur district, traffic and tourist police station Nerchowk in Mandi district and traffic and tourist police station Bhuntar in Kullu district do not have permanent vehicles.
Such police stations hire vehicles
Let us tell you that due to not having their own permanent vehicle, these police stations face problems. In fact, many times, if there is more than one crime in the concerned police station area, it becomes challenging to reach the spot. However, the facility of private vehicles on rent is available in such police stations. In many police stations, private companies are providing vehicles on rent so that there is no problem in patrolling and any other kind of work in the police stations.
Interestingly, the police stations which are at the top in the Crime and Criminal Network System (CCTNS) ranking also do not have the facility of their own vehicles.
