As March comes to an end, weather in Himachal Pradesh is set to take a dramatic turn once again. If you’re planning a trip or living in the hills, it’s time to stay alert.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow weather warning, signaling a fresh spell of snowfall, rain, and thunderstorms starting March 26.

🌨️ What’s Coming Next?

From March 26, districts like Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, and Chamba may witness thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places.

But the bigger change is expected just a couple of days later.

From March 28 onwards, a fresh western disturbance is likely to impact northwest India, bringing widespread rain and snowfall across the state till March 31.

🌡️ Temperature Trends You Should Know

While nights will remain relatively stable, daytime temperatures are expected to rise slightly:

  • Maximum temperature: May increase by 2°C to 4°C
  • Minimum temperature: Likely to stay within normal range

Over the past 24 hours, most regions experienced dry weather, with only light rainfall in a few areas. However, temperatures have shown mixed behavior:

  • Minimum temperatures ranged from -1°C to 17°C
  • Maximum temperatures stayed 3°C to 4°C below normal

  • Shimla: 8.2°C
  • Dharamshala: 6.2°C
  • Manali: 3.9°C
  • Una: Warmest at 29°C
  • Tabo: Coldest at -1.3°C

With weather expected to worsen in the coming days, authorities are advising residents and tourists to:

  • Stay updated with local weather alerts
  • Avoid unnecessary travel in hilly areas during storms
  • Be cautious of landslides and slippery roads
