With the countdown to the Indian Premier League 2026 underway, Punjab Kings have kick-started their preparations in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. The team has arrived in Dharamsala and begun training at the iconic HPCA Cricket Stadium, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket venues in the world.
The franchise has chosen the picturesque stadium as an early training base to help players adapt to local pitch conditions while building match fitness ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
In the first phase of the camp, eight players took part in practice sessions that focused on fitness drills, batting and bowling routines, and team coordination. Among those present were wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh, along with Praveen Dubey, Harpreet Brar, Harnoor Singh, Vishnu Vinod, Vishal Nishad, and other squad members.
The training sessions began with warm-up exercises before players moved into intense skill drills. Coaches and support staff closely monitored performances, offering guidance as the players worked to sharpen their form.
The presence of the team also created excitement among local fans. A number of spectators gathered around the stadium to catch a glimpse of the players practicing, with the majestic Dhauladhar mountain range forming a stunning backdrop to the sessions.
The Dharamsala camp is expected to run for six days, serving as a crucial part of Punjab Kings’ build-up to the new IPL season. More players are likely to join the squad soon. Star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is expected to arrive on March 8 or 9 to take part in the training sessions.
However, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer will not be able to attend the Dharamsala camp this time.
After finishing as runners-up last season, the franchise is determined to go one step further in IPL 2026. The early training sessions in Dharamsala are aimed at building team chemistry and ensuring the players are fully prepared for the highly anticipated tournament.
