In a moment that has filled Himachal Pradesh with pride, Naib Subedar Bhupender Singh from Bhechna village in Sundernagar achieved what many only dream of — he successfully scaled the mighty Mount Aconcagua, the highest mountain in Argentina and South America.

Standing at a staggering height of 6,961 metres, Mount Aconcagua is one of the most demanding and unforgiving peaks in the world. On February 22, after days of relentless effort and endurance, Bhupender Singh unfurled the Indian Tricolour at the summit, marking a powerful moment of patriotism thousands of kilometres away from home.

Battling Nature at Its Harshest

The journey to the top was anything but easy. Facing temperatures as low as -20°C, powerful winds, snowstorms, and dangerously low oxygen levels, the brave soldier displayed unwavering courage and discipline. Every step toward the summit demanded not just physical strength, but mental resilience.

For Bhupender Singh, this was not just a mountaineering expedition — it was a mission to represent his country with honour.

Pride of Sundernagar and Himachal Pradesh

His remarkable achievement has brought immense recognition to Sundernagar and the entire state of Himachal Pradesh, fondly known as “Veer Bhumi” for its legacy of brave soldiers. The feat reflects the indomitable spirit deeply rooted in the hills of the Himalayan state.

Leaders across party lines congratulated the soldier for his extraordinary accomplishment.

BJP MLA Rakesh Jamwal praised Bhupender Singh’s courage, stating that such achievements elevate the nation’s pride on the global stage and inspire young Indians to serve the country with dedication.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal Thakur also lauded the soldier, calling the climb a symbol of Himachali resilience and determination. He described it as a proud moment not only for Sundernagar but for the entire nation.

Inspiring a Generation

At a time when stories of courage are needed more than ever, Bhupender Singh’s journey from a small village in Himachal to the highest peak of South America sends a powerful message — no summit is too high when determination is stronger than fear.

His achievement is more than a mountaineering milestone. It is a reminder that the spirit of India shines bright, even at 6,961 metres above sea level.
