JD Vance Warns Iran: “We Can’t Let the World’s Worst Regime Have Nuclear Weapons” Amid Rising US Tensions

Tensions between the United States and Iran have sharply escalated, with US Vice President JD Vance delivering one of the strongest warnings yet to Tehran.

Speaking on Fox News, Vance made it clear that the United States would not allow what he described as “the craziest and worst regime in the world” to obtain nuclear weapons. His remarks come just a day after President Donald Trump signaled that military action remains an option if diplomacy fails.

A Warning From Washington

In an interview on “America’s Newsroom,” Vance emphasized that while President Trump prefers a diplomatic solution, the administration is prepared to use “other tools” if necessary — including military force.

“You can’t let the craziest and worst regime in the world have nuclear weapons,” Vance said, underscoring the seriousness of Washington’s position.

The comments arrive at a critical moment. US officials are set to meet Iranian negotiators in Geneva, raising hopes that diplomacy could prevent further escalation.

Trump’s Strong Message to Congress

During his State of the Union-style address to Congress, President Trump accused Iran of pursuing missiles capable of striking the United States. He also alleged that Tehran is working to rebuild its nuclear program, which was previously targeted by US strikes.

Drawing comparisons to past historic speeches — including when George W. Bush made the case for the Iraq invasion in 2003 — Trump’s remarks signaled that Washington is laying the groundwork for firm action if talks collapse.

The administration has also announced fresh sanctions as part of its ongoing “maximum pressure” strategy against Iran.

Iran Denies Nuclear Intentions

Iran has repeatedly denied seeking nuclear weapons. President Masoud Pezeshkian struck a cautiously optimistic tone ahead of negotiations, saying there is a “favorable outlook” for discussions.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Switzerland for the high-stakes talks.

Tehran has dismissed Trump’s claims about its missile program as “big lies,” insisting its nuclear activities are peaceful.

A Critical Diplomatic Moment

The upcoming talks in Geneva could shape the future of US-Iran relations for years to come. Washington is reportedly demanding that any future nuclear agreement remain in effect indefinitely — a significant shift from the 2015 nuclear deal, which had time-bound restrictions.
