In a strong reassurance to thousands of families across the state, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has made it clear that no eligible beneficiary in Himachal Pradesh will face any disruption in receiving social security pensions.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department on Wednesday, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state government remains firmly committed to protecting the financial security of its most vulnerable citizens. He directed officials to ensure that pensions continue smoothly and without interruption for every qualified individual.

Over 7.6 Lakh Beneficiaries Verified Through e-KYC

Highlighting the progress so far, Sukhu informed that e-KYC verification of 7,60,772 beneficiaries has already been completed. He stressed that the verification drive must continue comprehensively so that no deserving person is left behind due to procedural delays.

He specifically instructed officials to speed up pending formalities for eligible individuals whose documentation may still be under process. “Every entitled citizen must receive their rightful support,” he asserted, underlining the government’s welfare-first approach.

Focus on Child Welfare Under Mukhya Mantri Sukh Aashray Yojna

Reviewing the progress of the Mukhya Mantri Sukh Aashray Yojna, the Chief Minister shared that 4,131 children are currently benefiting under the scheme. To ensure its effective implementation, the government has allocated ₹30.69 crore.

He also directed departments to organize regular exposure and recreational visits for beneficiary children, encouraging districts that have not yet conducted such activities to submit timely reports. The aim, he noted, is not just financial assistance but holistic development and emotional well-being.

Support for Vulnerable Families Through Education Scheme

Under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojna, 21,588 beneficiaries have been covered across the state. This includes 20,735 children below 18 years of age. The scheme supports children of widows, destitute or divorced women, and parents with disabilities.

An allocation of ₹31.01 crore has been earmarked for the program, reflecting the government’s focus on ensuring that financial hardship does not come in the way of education.

“No Shortage of Funds,” Assures CM

Reiterating his government’s commitment to welfare initiatives, Sukhu assured that there is no shortage of funds for social security programs. He also highlighted a special provision allowing 10 percent of the Local Area Development Fund to be utilized for the welfare of orphaned children.

The review meeting was attended by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dhani Ram Shandil along with senior officials.

Why This Matters

For lakhs of elderly citizens, widows, differently-abled individuals, and vulnerable children in Himachal Pradesh, social security pensions and welfare schemes are not just financial aid — they are a lifeline. The Chief Minister’s assurance comes as a relief, reinforcing confidence that the state’s welfare net remains strong and dependable.
