Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur on Saturday described the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as a “Reform Express Budget”, saying it caters to the needs and aspirations of every Indian citizen.

Addressing mediapersons at the BJP office in Una, Thakur said the successive Budgets presented by the Finance Minister — her ninth consecutive Budget — have ushered in significant reforms and transformations while strengthening the country’s performance across sectors.

He stated that the Budgets introduced under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership have helped India scale new heights in multiple fields. “Today, India is the world’s fastest-growing economy with a growth rate of around 7 per cent,” he said, adding that the country has moved from being the 10th largest economy in 2014 to the fourth largest in 2026.

Highlighting the achievements of the government, Thakur said that during the past 12 years of Modi’s governance, national security has been strengthened and foreign exchange reserves have tripled, reaching nearly $720 billion. He also claimed that there has not been a single instance of major scam or corruption.

Comparing budget allocations, the MP said the 2025–26 Budget stood at ₹50.65 lakh crore, while the upcoming financial year’s outlay has been increased by 5.6 per cent to ₹53.47 lakh crore, reflecting the government’s focus on development and welfare.

Earlier in the day, Thakur paid obeisance at the Radha Krishna Temple in Kotla Kalan in Una, where a fortnight-long annual religious function is underway. Former MLAs Rajesh Thakur and Davinder Bhutto accompanied him during the visit.
