In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday transferred 14 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, bringing changes across key police postings in the state.

Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Gandhi, who was recently promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP), has been placed with the Department of Personnel and is likely to be posted outside the Police Department. SP Solan Gaurav Singh has been appointed as the new SP Shimla.

Tiruamalaraju SD Varma, currently serving as ADC to the Governor, has been posted as SP Solan. He will be replaced by Sandeep Kumar Bhardwaj, SP, State Human Rights Commission, Shimla, who will now serve as ADC to the Governor.

Sachin Hiremath, SP, State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB), Mandi, has been appointed SP Una, replacing Amit Yadav, who has been directed to report to Police Headquarters, Shimla.

Recently promoted DIG Rohit Malpani, SP Cybercrime, will now serve as DIG Cybercrime, Shimla.
Dr Ramesh Chander Chhajta, SP (Leave Reserve), has been posted as DIG Prisons & Correctional Services, Shimla, while Devakar Sharma, Commandant, 4th Indian Reserve Battalion, Jangalberi, has been appointed DIG Intelligence & Security, Dharamshala. He will be replaced by Arvind Chaudhary, currently SP (Leave Reserve), Shimla.

SP Mandi Sakshi Verma has been transferred as SP, SV & ACB, Mandi. She will be replaced by Vinod Kumar, a 2006-batch HPPS officer, who was serving as Assistant Inspector General (Traffic, Tourist and Railway – TTR), Shimla.

Dr DK Chaudhary, Principal, Police Training College (PTC), Daroh, Kangra district, has been appointed Inspector General of Police (IG), Armed Police & Training, Daroh, relieving Bimal Gupta, IG SV & ACB, Shimla, of the additional charge.

Soumya Sambasivan, IG (Northern Range), Dharamshala, has been given additional charge of Principal, PTC Daroh. Meanwhile, Abhishek Dular, IG awaiting posting, has been appointed IG Communication & Technical Services, Shimla.

The reshuffle is seen as part of the state government’s effort to strengthen policing and administrative efficiency across Himachal Pradesh.
