Recently released documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation contain unverified references to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, according to records made public by the US Department of Justice.
The materials include draft emails allegedly written by Epstein in 2013, in which he made a series of personal claims about Gates. The statements have not been substantiated, and officials emphasised that the appearance of any individual’s name in the files does not indicate wrongdoing or involvement in criminal activity.
Responding to the release, Gates strongly denied the claims. A spokesperson described them as “absolutely absurd and completely false,” adding that the emails reflected Epstein’s frustration after their association ended and were an apparent attempt to damage Gates’ reputation.
The Justice Department said it has released more than three million pages of investigative records, along with thousands of videos and images, following an extensive review. Authorities reiterated that many documents contain unverified or third-party statements that should not be treated as confirmed facts.
The release also includes previously unseen photographs showing Gates and Epstein together at social gatherings. Gates has earlier acknowledged meeting Epstein on several occasions and has publicly stated that he regrets the association. He has consistently maintained that he had no business or personal relationship with Epstein beyond those meetings.
Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
