Himachal Pradesh : School Bus Overturns Near Palampur, Six Children Injured; All Out of Danger
At least six students were injured after a school bus carrying 15 children overturned on the Lahat–Shivnagar road, around 25 km from Palampur, on Tuesday morning. The accident triggered panic among parents and local residents, many of whom rushed to the spot upon receiving news of the incident.

According to initial reports, the bus belonged to a private school in Pahara village near Panchrukhi. School staff present at the scene quickly reassured parents about the children’s safety and assisted in managing the situation.
Police officials said the mishap occurred near Lahat when the driver allegedly failed to negotiate a sharp turn, causing the vehicle to overturn. However, the driver blamed the poor condition of the road, claiming that he was driving at a normal speed but lost control due to the damaged and unsafe stretch.
Local residents backed the driver’s statement, alleging that the Lahat–Shivnagar road has become accident-prone because of heavy traffic and lack of proper maintenance. They described the stretch as a “death trap,” saying frequent accidents pose a serious threat to commuters, especially schoolchildren.
All six injured students were rushed to Civil Hospital, Palampur, where they received treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that the children are out of danger.
Police have registered a case against the bus driver, though no arrests have been made so far. Further investigation into the exact cause of the accident is underway.
