Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday extended warm greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the eve of the state’s 56th Statehood Day, celebrating its rich heritage, unity and developmental journey.

The Governor lauded the state, fondly known as “Devbhoomi”, for its vibrant cultural traditions and values, and called upon citizens to uphold the spirit of harmony, hard work and collective progress that defines Himachal’s identity.

Chief Minister Sukhu said Statehood Day serves as a reminder of Himachal’s remarkable journey and the resilience of its people, who have played a crucial role in shaping the state’s growth story.

Paying tributes to the pioneers of the hill state, he honoured Dr YS Parmar, widely regarded as the Architect of Himachal Pradesh, along with other visionary leaders whose dedication laid the foundation for the state’s socio-economic development and unique identity.

Sukhu also expressed gratitude for the contribution of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, recalling the historic moment on January 25, 1971, when she formally announced full statehood for Himachal Pradesh at the iconic Ridge Ground in Shimla amid heavy snowfall.

The Chief Minister urged citizens to take inspiration from the state’s glorious past and actively contribute towards building a “Green and Prosperous Himachal.”
