Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu : Investigation Underway After Bomb Threat Email Against Himachal CM

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation after an unidentified person allegedly sent an email threatening to blow up Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu with a bomb during the upcoming Republic Day function in Shimla.

The threatening email was received at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, following which the district administration immediately took cognisance of the matter. Security agencies were alerted and a case was promptly registered by the police.

The Deputy Commissioner said the sender had claimed affiliation with a Khalistani outfit, though the source and authenticity of the email are being verified. He added that police were directed to initiate an immediate and thorough investigation after the threat was received.

“A letter regarding the threat has also been forwarded to the Director General of Police, Home Secretary and Chief Secretary,” the DC said.

While noting that similar threat emails received in the past had later turned out to be hoaxes, the Deputy Commissioner stressed.
