Dharamsala Municipal Corporation bags Top Achievers Award
The Dharamsala Municipal Corporation (MC) has secured the Top Achievers Award in the annual performance review of municipal corporations in Himachal Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in the city’s urban governance journey.

The award was conferred by the state government in recognition of the corporation’s outstanding performance in urban development, sanitation management and delivery of public services.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, MC Commissioner Zafar Iqbal said the recognition would act as a catalyst for further development and has significantly boosted the morale of the municipal workforce.
“This encouragement from the government has energised the corporation and will help accelerate Dharamsala’s development in the coming years,” he said.
Attributing the success to teamwork, Iqbal said the achievement was the result of the consistent hard work and dedication of all employees and officers of the Municipal Corporation.
“From field-level staff to administrative officers, everyone worked in coordination and with commitment, which enabled Dharamsala to emerge as a leading municipal corporation in the state,” he added.
He also expressed gratitude to the city’s residents for their continued cooperation and support.
Following the state-level recognition, the Municipal Corporation is now aiming to improve Dharamsala’s national ranking. The Commissioner said efforts are underway to enhance standards of cleanliness, beautification and civic amenities to provide better facilities for both tourists and local residents.
He added that improved inter-departmental coordination would help address existing shortcomings and ensure sustainable and planned urban development in the future.
