Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday flagged off participants representing the state for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue/National Youth Festival-2026 from Lok Bhavan.

The national-level event, organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will be held from January 9 to 12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. A total of 70 participants from the state will take part in the programme.

Congratulating the young leaders, the Governor encouraged them to present their ideas with confidence and conviction. He said that ideas leave a lasting impact beyond winning or losing and recalled former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s words that dreams are those seen with open eyes.

Urging the youth to stay away from drugs, the Governor said, “Only a healthy and focused generation can meaningfully contribute to building a developed India and the nation’s overall progress.”

Expressing optimism, he said the participants, representing Dev Bhoomi Himachal Pradesh, would articulate their views so effectively that they would inspire discussion and gain recognition at the national level.

Earlier, Assistant Director, MY Bharat Himachal Pradesh, Vijay Kumar, and District Youth Officer Pradeep Kumar welcomed and honoured the Governor. Pradeep Kumar briefed him on the selection process and objectives of the dialogue, stating that the initiative connects youth aged 15 to 29 years with nation-building by fostering leadership in policy-making, technology, sports and sustainable development.
