Shillai: Minor Killed in Road Accident, NH-707 Blocked for Hours

A 12-year-old boy was killed in a road accident on the Paonta Sahib–Gumma–Fedizpul National Highway (NH-707) near Kamrau village in the Shillai Assembly constituency on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred when a hydra crane moving along the highway struck a scooter parked on the roadside. The deceased was identified as Parth (12), a resident of Khajiar (Kamrau).

According to eyewitnesses, the child was sitting on the scooter while his father had gone nearby to purchase some items. The rear tyre of the hydra crane allegedly hit the scooter, leaving the boy critically injured. He was rushed to Paonta Sahib hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Following the incident, angry locals blocked NH-707, causing traffic disruption for several hours. Police later reached the spot and restored traffic.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, Yogesh Rolta said a probe has been initiated and further action will be taken as per law.
