Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed senior officers across all districts to ensure the active and effective implementation of the Apna Vidyalaya — Himachal School Adoption Programme, aimed at improving the quality of education in government schools.
Chairing a virtual meeting with all Deputy Commissioners, the Chief Minister instructed that a comprehensive list of schools adopted under the programme across the state be submitted to the government by January 5.
Under the initiative, officers at the district and sub-divisional levels are required to adopt government schools and function as mentors, focusing on enhancing academic performance, infrastructure, student engagement and overall school functioning.
The CM said that Deputy Commissioners, along with senior officers such as Superintendents of Police and Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), are mandated to adopt at least four schools each to ensure sustained monitoring and targeted support.
Sukhu emphasised that administrative leadership at the grassroots level would play a crucial role in strengthening the public education system and bridging gaps in learning outcomes across government schools.
