Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various development projects worth around ₹110 crore in Bilaspur district.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a long-pending sewerage scheme for Bilaspur town, which will be constructed at a cost of ₹93.30 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for staff quarters at the Police Lines in Bilaspur, to be built at an estimated cost of ₹12.23 crore.

In addition, Sukhu inaugurated the CCTV Matrix project under the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), known as the Netrum Surveillance and Crime Response Centre, for the Bilaspur and Ghumarwin areas. The project has been implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) at a cost of ₹4.38 crore.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the state government was committed to providing the best possible facilities to all sections of society. He noted that the sewerage scheme for Bilaspur had been a long-standing demand of local residents and would significantly improve sanitation and living conditions in the town.

He added that the CCTV surveillance system would not only strengthen policing and crime control but would also help promote better road discipline among motorists, contributing to overall public safety.
