Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that Rs 132 crore is being spent on the construction of 11 new bridges in the Haroli Assembly constituency to provide all-weather connectivity to residents of remote villages.

Addressing the annual prize distribution function at Government Senior Secondary School, Palkwah, Agnihotri said Haroli was rapidly emerging as a model constituency in Himachal Pradesh. He said the education sector in the area had witnessed significant growth over the past two decades.

“The state’s only Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) has been established in Haroli, along with a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Besides this, nursing and law colleges, more than 30 senior secondary schools and three government colleges have been set up,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Jal Shakti Department in Haroli would be divided into three sectors, with headquarters at Tahliwal, Khad and Haroli, respectively. Each sector would be equipped with modern machinery to improve drinking water supply and irrigation facilities.

He added that Rs 20 crore was being spent on the rejuvenation and beautification of village ponds and water bodies across the constituency.

Agnihotri called upon students to stay away from drugs and actively contribute to nation-building. He urged parents and teachers to remain vigilant against drug abuse and to report any such cases to panchayat-level vigilance committees constituted by the district administration.

Highlighting industrial development, the Congress leader said work on the bulk drug park project in Haroli had commenced, with the state government already investing in basic infrastructure such as water, electricity and roads. He said the project would see a joint investment of Rs 2,000 crore by the Centre and the state government, and environmental clearance had been obtained from the Union government.

Later, Agnihotri distributed prizes to students excelling in sports, academics and cultural activities. He also announced a grant of Rs 31,000 for cultural troupes that performed during the event.
