Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur said 94 government schools have received CBSE affiliation, with six more expected soon, taking the total to 100 from the next academic session.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur today said that 94 government schools in Himachal Pradesh have been granted affiliation by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), while the remaining six schools are expected to receive affiliation by the end of this month. With this, the state aims to have 100 government schools affiliated to CBSE from the coming academic session.
Chairing a review meeting of the Education Department, Thakur said a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for teacher appointments has been finalised and would be placed before the Cabinet for approval soon.
The minister reviewed preparations for the Limited Direct Recruitment (LDR) Test 2025–26 for 1,427 Job Trainee posts, scheduled to be held on February 22, 2026, and directed officials to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination.
He also took stock of the progress of Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools, for which Rs 94.46 crore has been sanctioned across 42 locations. Thakur instructed officials to strengthen sports infrastructure and ensure that vacant regular posts of coaches are filled in all nine sports hostels.
Thakur said the recruitment process for 389 Assistant Professors has already been initiated. He directed that schools with zero enrolment be merged, teacher postings be rationalised based on actual requirements, and non-performing teachers and schools face strict action.
The minister further instructed that all promoted headmasters must join their new postings by December 31, and that the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) process for principals be completed at the earliest.
He said the SOP for introducing horticulture as a subject has been prepared and directed its implementation from the next academic session to promote skill-based education. He also announced that the department has decided to discontinue the maintenance of the Teachers’ Diary.
