Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri reviews water supply, irrigation projects, calls for faster execution
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri reviewed the progress of water supply and irrigation projects and directed officials to complete works within stipulated timelines.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Tuesday reviewed the progress of water supply and irrigation projects across Himachal Pradesh and directed officials to expedite the completion of ongoing works in a time-bound manner.
Agnihotri was chairing the first meeting of the Screening Committee of the Water Resources Department here yesterday. During the meeting, he reviewed departmental schemes and development works with senior officers and took stock of the status of various ongoing projects across the state.
While discussing water supply schemes, irrigation projects and departmental proposals in detail, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the primary objective of the Water Resources Department was to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water to every citizen, along with improved irrigation facilities for farmers.
He stressed the need for regular field inspections and asked officers not to confine themselves to their offices. “Officers must visit project sites frequently and ensure that issues are addressed at the ground level,” he said, adding that effective monitoring was essential for timely execution and quality outcomes.
Principal Secretary (Law) Rajeev Bali, Secretary Rakhil Kahlon and senior officers of the Water Resources Department were present at the meeting.
