A three-day bootcamp on Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) for principals and teachers of PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Himachal Pradesh commenced at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Una, located in Saloh village.

The programme is being organised jointly by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Innovation Cell of the Union Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation.

The bootcamp aims to strengthen innovation, design thinking and entrepreneurial capabilities among school principals and teachers, who have also been designated as innovation ambassadors. The initiative seeks to enable educators to foster creativity and problem-solving skills within school ecosystems.

According to IIIT-Una Director Prof. Munish Gaur, Phase-I of the IDE bootcamp is being rolled out across 13 states following a state-wise implementation model. In Himachal Pradesh, IIIT-Una is hosting the programme, with participation from 190 principals and teachers representing all 12 districts of the state.

The training programme features group activities, immersive working sessions and hands-on workshops designed to promote a human-centred approach to innovation. Participants are being trained to identify opportunities, apply design thinking tools, and develop customer-centric products and services relevant to educational settings.

Prof. Gaur said the bootcamp also introduces participants to the basics of business model development and elementary financial assessment, guiding them through the “why, what and how” of innovation, with a strong emphasis on practical classroom and school-level applications.

Vidhikar Vishal, representing AICTE, attended the inaugural session along with Prof. Gaur. Expert sessions during the bootcamp are being conducted by Dr. Sachin Gupta and Gauri Gopinath from the Wadhwani Foundation.
