Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth approximately ₹69 crore in the Ghumarwin Assembly constituency of Bilaspur district.

Among the major projects inaugurated were the newly constructed Ghumarwin Police Station, built at a cost of ₹4.82 crore, and a check dam along with a deck over the Seer Khad, constructed at a cost of ₹3.67 crore.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for several key infrastructure projects, including a multi-purpose sports complex near the Tikkari Helipad in Ghumarwin, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹6.08 crore, and residential quarters for police personnel near the Ghumarwin Police Station, costing ₹6 crore.

Other projects whose foundation stones were laid included the upgradation of the seven-kilometre-long Amarpur–Hadsar–Dahad–Jaman–Ghumarwin road at a cost of ₹6.13 crore, the upgradation of the 31-kilometre-long Ghumarwin–Barthin–Shah Talai road at an estimated cost of ₹34.95 crore, and the construction of a 68-metre jeepable span bridge over the Seer Khad on the Badi Majhedwan–Dahad–Panol road at Badi Majhedwan, to be built at a cost of ₹6.80 crore.

Earlier, on his arrival in Ghumarwin, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by local residents. He interacted with people at various locations and also listened to their grievances.

Addressing the gathering, Sukhu said the state government was committed to the all-round development of Himachal Pradesh. He reiterated the government’s resolve to crack down on drug peddlers and said a dedicated mission had been launched to eradicate the menace of “chitta” from the state. He urged citizens to come forward and help expose those involved in drug trafficking and consumption.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister participated in a state-level function of the Pensioners’ Welfare Association. He assured pensioners that their genuine demands would be addressed at the earliest and said the government had already spent over ₹2,155 crore on the disbursement of pensions and arrears to employees and pensioners across the state.

Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
