Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday flagged off a daily Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Volvo bus service connecting Nadaun with Delhi.

The bus will operate on the Nadaun–Hamirpur–Ghumarwin–Rupnagar–Delhi route. It will depart from Nadaun at 7:00 am, reach Chandigarh at 11:40 am and arrive in Delhi at 4:40 pm. On the return journey, the Volvo bus will leave Delhi at 8:30 am and reach Nadaun at 6:30 pm.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said HRTC had become the first state transport undertaking in the country to introduce the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) facility. He said the card enables passengers to travel seamlessly across multiple transport networks, including the Delhi Metro, Delhi Transport Corporation, Haryana Roadways and bus services in western Mumbai.

He added that HRTC continues to offer facilities such as the Him Bus Card, Him Bus Plus Card and Green Card to provide concessional and free travel benefits to eligible passengers.

Highlighting fleet augmentation, Sukhu said 297 new electric buses are being inducted into the HRTC fleet as part of the government’s push towards sustainable transport. With the addition of 25 new buses, the total number of Volvo buses in the corporation has risen to 98. He further informed that 50 Tempo Travellers and 24 super luxury buses have also been procured, while the procurement process for 250 diesel buses, 100 mini buses and four cranes is currently underway.
