Himachal Pradesh News : Himachal Releases ₹94.46 Crore to Set Up Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools Across the State
The Himachal Pradesh government has released ₹94.46 crore to establish Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools in every Assembly constituency, strengthening rural education and sports infrastructure.
The Himachal Pradesh government has released ₹94.46 crore for the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools across the state, with a plan to set up one such school in every Assembly constituency. So far, 42 locations have been identified for the project.
A government spokesperson said the schools would be equipped with modern, state-of-the-art facilities and would play a crucial role in the holistic development of children, particularly in rural areas. “These institutions will offer quality education along with enhanced sports infrastructure to help identify and nurture sporting talent,” he said.
The spokesperson added that the education sector in Himachal Pradesh is undergoing a major transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. “The introduction of day-boarding schools is set to become a landmark initiative in this reform process,” he noted.
Construction work is progressing at a fast pace in Hamirpur district, where projects are underway in all five Assembly constituencies. At Amlehar, the primary wing of the new day-boarding school is expected to become operational from the next academic session.
In Bilaspur district, Rajiv Senior Secondary School at Hatwar is being upgraded into a day-boarding school. For this purpose, 25 bighas of land have been transferred to the Education Department, and ₹3.50 crore has been released to HIMUDA to carry out the construction work.
