National Lok Adalat Settles 13 Consumer Cases in Himachal, Awards ₹1.01 Crore Compensation
National Lok Adalat in Himachal Pradesh resolved 13 consumer cases, awarding ₹1.01 crore in compensation, offering quick and amicable justice to consumers across districts.
A National Lok Adalat was organised across all Consumer Commissions and Consumer Courts in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday under the patronage of Justice Inder Singh Mehta, President of the Himachal Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
A total of 36 consumer cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat, of which 13 were resolved amicably. Compensation amounting to ₹1.01 crore was awarded to consumers as part of these settlements.
At the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Kangra at Dharamsala, nine cases were settled, with consumers receiving compensation totalling ₹17,88,238.
Similarly, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Shimla disposed of three cases and awarded compensation amounting to ₹30,11,500. In Mandi, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission resolved 10 cases, granting ₹9,95,811 as compensation to consumers.
The National Lok Adalat provided a speedy, cost-effective and amicable platform for resolving consumer disputes, bringing relief to litigants across the state.
