JP Nadda to Lay Foundation Stone of BJP State Office; Party Gears Up to Counter Congress Claims

BJP national president JP Nadda arrived here this evening and will lay the foundation stone of the party’s state-level office on Friday. The occasion will also see the state BJP felicitate Nadda for the party’s decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. A large turnout is expected, with party workers and supporters arriving from across Himachal Pradesh.

According to party sources, the BJP plans to use the event to strongly rebut the allegations levelled by the Congress during its Jan Sankalp rally in Mandi on Thursday. At that rally, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other senior ministers accused the BJP of leaving Himachal Pradesh burdened with debt and alleged that the Centre had failed to extend adequate assistance for disaster relief.

Hitting out at the Congress government, BJP state president Rajiv Bindal said the ruling party had spent its three years in office “doing little beyond criticising the BJP.” He alleged that government programmes had failed to address people’s real concerns and had instead turned into platforms for political mudslinging and what he described as baseless आरोप against the BJP.

Senior BJP leaders believe that the foundation-laying ceremony of the new state office will infuse fresh energy into the party organisation. They also see Nadda’s felicitation as a moment that could set the tone and direction for state politics in the run-up to future elections.
