Forensic Report Confirms Rape Allegation Against BJP Leader’s Brother in Solan Clinic Case
A forensic report has confirmed the rape of a 25-year-old woman at the clinic of Dr Ram Kumar Bindal, brother of BJP state president Dr Rajiv Bindal, intensifying the controversy surrounding the October incident in Solan.
In a serious development for Dr Ram Kumar Bindal, the elder brother of BJP state president Dr Rajiv Bindal, a forensic report has confirmed the rape of a 25-year-old woman at his clinic in October.
Solan SP Gaurav Singh said the Forensic Science Laboratory in Junga has matched saliva samples found on the victim’s body with those of Dr Bindal. The report, he said, supports the rape allegation along with other evidence collected from the clinic. A chargesheet will be filed in court soon.
According to the SP, the victim emerged from the clinic in tears after spending a “significant amount of time” inside, as shown in CCTV footage. The clinic—normally closed for outdoor patients on that particular day—had been opened in deviation from routine.
He added that the examination was conducted without a female assistant, and the page in the clinic register containing the victim’s name had been torn out, allegedly to destroy evidence. The clinic was shut soon after the incident.
The Solan police arrested Dr Ram Kumar Bindal, an ayurvedic practitioner, for allegedly raping the woman under the pretext of a medical examination at his Mall Road clinic on October 7. The BJP had claimed the case was a “politically motivated, mischievous act.”
The victim filed a complaint at the Women Police Station on October 8, alleging she had gone to the doctor for treatment of an illness when the assault occurred. Dr Bindal was later granted bail.
