Mandi Sets Benchmark as Revenue Courts Clear 32,000 Cases, Delivering Faster Justice Across Villages
Mandi district has emerged as a state leader in resolving revenue cases, clearing over 32,000 matters in two years through streamlined, village-level revenue courts. The initiative has improved transparency, reduced delays and strengthened public trust.
Mandi district has seen a significant acceleration in the disposal of revenue cases, driven by the state government’s efforts to simplify, streamline and make revenue processes time-bound. As a result, revenue courts across the district have resolved more than 32,000 long-pending cases between October 2023 and October 2025, offering major relief to the public.
Officials noted that 24 revenue courts were held across Mandi district during this period, expediting cases related to intkal (mutation), partition, demarcation and revenue corrections. This sustained effort has not only improved administrative efficiency but also strengthened public confidence in the government’s service-delivery system.
Revenue courts were launched statewide in October 2023, initially limited to mutation cases. To enhance accessibility, partition cases were added in December 2023, followed by demarcation and correction matters in February 2024.
In Mandi alone, these courts have settled 30,641 mutation cases, 970 partition cases, 663 demarcation cases and 413 revenue correction cases.
This large-scale clearance has significantly reduced the backlog and ensured that citizens receive timely resolutions within their own areas — a major shift from earlier, when long travel distances and procedural delays complicated even minor revenue tasks. Residents across the district have welcomed the initiative.
Shiv Kumar of Kharot village in Sarkaghat said revenue matters have become far easier to handle. He earlier had to travel nearly 50 km for mutation work. “Now, with revenue courts coming to our doorstep, the process is hassle-free,” he said. His land-partition case, pending since 2010, was finally resolved through the revenue court.
Ranjit Singh of Tatih village shared a similar experience, noting that his land-partition dispute with his brother was settled swiftly. “Before this system, we had to run to the tehsil office repeatedly, often losing an entire day without any progress. Now, under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, these issues are resolved on the spot,” he said, expressing gratitude to the government.
The initiative has placed Mandi among the state’s top-performing districts in delivering prompt and effective resolutions to revenue matters. The strong public response shows that the revenue courts have become purposeful, result-oriented and genuinely beneficial for citizens.
Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan said consistent organisation of these courts has provided real relief to people. He added that the outcomes reflect the government’s sensitivity and commitment to public welfare.
“Our goal is to ensure no citizen must wait unnecessarily for basic revenue processes. These courts have brought transparent, accessible and efficient services to village and tehsil levels, boosting public confidence and participation,” he said.
With this model’s success, Mandi district stands as a strong example of how decentralised, people-centric governance can bring transformative change at the grassroots.
