CM Sukhu Visits Tong-Len School in Dharamsala, Encourages Students and Unveils Major Forensic Infrastructure
Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited Tong-Len School in Dharamsala, interacting with students and highlighting government initiatives for orphaned children. He also inaugurated new forensic facilities and development projects aimed at boosting transparency, education and public welfare.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday morning visited the Tong-Len School at Sarah in Dharamsala and interacted with students, according to an official release.
The Himachal CMO stated that the Chief Minister spoke with the students about their interests and hobbies and encouraged them to grow into responsible citizens who can contribute positively to society and the nation. Since its inception, the Tong-Len organisation has worked to uplift slum communities by educating children from underprivileged backgrounds.
CM Sukhu noted that the present government is committed to safeguarding the rights and welfare of the people. He highlighted the Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Sahayata Kosh, a scheme established to ensure that orphaned children receive opportunities for higher and professional education at the government’s full expense.
During the visit, the Chief Minister also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
The Tong-Len charitable trust focuses on ensuring that every child from disadvantaged communities can access quality education at Tong-Len School.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, members of the Tong-Len management, and teachers were present during the visit.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, CM Sukhu inaugurated the Digital Forensic Division and the Advanced Equipment Laboratory at the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Dharamsala. The facility, built with an investment of around ₹3 crore, is equipped with advanced tools capable of extracting and analysing data even from damaged mobile phones. An additional high-precision equipment laboratory worth ₹1.05 crore has also been set up to strengthen forensic capabilities.

The equipment installed in these divisions, valued at approximately ₹1.50 crore, is expected to enhance transparency, reliability and efficiency in forensic investigations across the northern region of Himachal Pradesh, the release added. The Chief Minister emphasised that the new facilities would significantly assist investigative agencies, particularly in cases where the punishment prescribed is seven years or more.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the new building of the District Panchayat Resource Centre (DPRC) in Kangra, constructed at a cost of ₹3.92 crore, and laid the foundation stone for the DPO staff quarters of the Zila Parishad, Kangra, at Dharamsala, to be built at an estimated cost of ₹2.26 crore.
