Himachal Assembly: BJP’s Motion on Panchayati Raj Polls Accepted; CM Sukhu Opens Floor for Discussion
The Himachal Pradesh Assembly approved the BJP’s motion to halt work on the Panchayati Raj elections. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, showing magnanimity, accepted the discussion on behalf of the government and reiterated that Congress has strengthened constitutional values, including reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, displaying statesmanship, agreed to take up the discussion on behalf of the government.
Speaking in the House, the Chief Minister said that the Congress will not be celebrating the government’s three years in Mandi; instead, it will present its vision for the state.
He added that the Congress has been the strongest custodian of the Constitution and that it was the Congress government that introduced reservations for women in Panchayati Raj institutions.
He reaffirmed that the government is functioning strictly in accordance with the law.
