Kangra Prepares to Bid a Tearful, Heroic Farewell to Wing Commander Namansh Syal Today
Wing Commander Namansh Syal’s mortal remains will arrive in Kangra this afternoon. The district is preparing for a full military-honours cremation in his ancestral village after his tragic death in the LCA Tejas crash during the Dubai Air Show.
Wing Commander Namansh Syal’s mortal remains will arrive in Kangra this afternoon, where the district is preparing to give him a solemn and proud farewell.
According to Munish Sharma, SDM of Nagrota Bagwan, the cremation will take place with full military honours in Patialakhar, his ancestral village near Yol.
Kangra is uniting to honour the Air Force officer, who lost his life in the LCA Tejas crash during the Dubai Air Show. His body will be flown from the Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore and is expected to land at the Kangra airport at 12:30 pm on Sunday.
District authorities have made all arrangements to ensure a dignified tribute. Colonel Gopal Guleria, District Sainik Welfare Officer, told The Tribune that the Air Force unit stationed in Yol is managing all formalities, while the local ex-servicemen’s unit, led by Honorary Captain K.C. Dhiman, will attend the ceremony in full uniform to honour the “brave son of the soil.”
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa confirmed that Ayush, Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma, along with local MLA and HPTDC Chairperson Raghubir Singh Bali, will represent the state government.
Former Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, former minister Sudhir Sharma, and several other political leaders are also expected to pay their respects as the region comes together to honour one of its own.
