Massive Fire Destroys Amater Labs Pharmaceutical Unit in Baddi; No Casualties Reported
A massive overnight fire destroyed Amater Labs, a pharmaceutical unit in Baddi, sending thick black smoke across the area. Firefighters battled the blaze for over 12 hours. No casualties were reported.
A major fire broke out at Amater Labs Limited, a pharmaceutical unit located near the Baddi Barrier, around 1:00 a.m. on Friday. The blaze completely gutted the facility but fortunately caused no loss of life.
Witnesses reported seeing thick black plumes of smoke rising high into the sky, visible from several kilometers away. The towering smoke cloud triggered panic among nearby residents, many of whom rushed out of their homes fearing a larger industrial incident.
Authorities said the fire intensified rapidly because of highly flammable materials stored inside the unit. Upon receiving the alert, a team of 17 firefighters and five fire tenders were dispatched to the scene.
Given the presence of combustible stock, fire crews struggled to control the flames. It took more than 12 hours of continuous effort to fully extinguish the fire. Solan Home Guards Commandant Santosh Sharma confirmed that the blaze was brought under control by 1:50 p.m. on Friday.
