President Donald Trump on Friday withdrew his endorsement of Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, citing her recent criticism of his agenda. The move marks a significant and unexpected rift between Trump and one of his most vocal allies on Capitol Hill.

Posting late Friday on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“I am withdrawing my endorsement and support for ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene of the GREAT State of Georgia.”

Greene has long been one of Trump’s fiercest supporters, but in recent weeks she has broken ranks with the White House and some fellow Republicans on several key issues.

Greene Responds: “He lied about me”

Trump said he had grown tired of what he described as Greene’s constant “complaining.” He said their dispute began after he shared a poll with her indicating she would struggle to win a Senate or governor’s race without his backing—a message he claims he never intended as pressure.

He also suggested that conservative voters in her district might consider supporting a primary challenger, adding that he would endorse a suitable opponent in next year’s midterm elections.

Greene—who seldom criticizes Trump directly—fired back on X, accusing him of having “attacked me and lied about me.”

She hinted that Trump’s anger may be tied to her push to release all records related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, whose case has long generated controversy. Trump has dismissed the renewed focus on Epstein as a politically motivated “hoax” promoted by Democrats.

Greene accused Trump of trying to intimidate other Republicans ahead of next week’s vote on releasing the Epstein files, saying:
“It’s truly astonishing how hard he is fighting to keep the Epstein records from being released.”

On Wednesday, Greene was one of four House Republicans who joined Democrats in signing a petition to force a vote on releasing all Justice Department files related to Epstein.

Policy splits widen

In recent weeks, Greene has also criticized several elements of Trump’s policy positions. She called his proposed trade tariffs “clumsy,” said she disagreed with his foreign-policy priorities, and argued that Republicans must present a serious plan to lower healthcare costs. She also rejected Trump’s claim that inflation is under control.

Earlier this year, she became the first Republican lawmaker to describe the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as genocide.

Greene has dismissed speculation that she is positioning herself for a 2028 presidential run, insisting that her focus remains on her district in northwest Georgia.
