Cold Wave Tightens Grip on Himachal; Minimum Temperature Drops by Up to 6°C

A severe cold wave continues across Himachal Pradesh, with minimum temperatures dipping by 2°C to 6°C in the past 24 hours. High-altitude areas of Lahaul–Spiti and Kinnaur recorded sub-zero temperatures, while Tabo remained the coldest at –6.6°C. Weather is expected to stay dry statewide until 21 November.

The cold wave continues to intensify across Himachal Pradesh, with minimum temperatures falling by 6°C in several regions over the past 24 hours. While Una remained the warmest location in the state, Tabo village in Lahaul–Spiti recorded the lowest minimum temperature at –6.6°C.

Fresh snowfall in parts of Kullu district drew tourists to the snow-covered Rohtang Pass, where winter conditions have already set in.

High-altitude regions of Lahaul–Spiti and Kinnaur have been experiencing severe cold, especially during the night, as temperatures dipped well below freezing. These areas remain the coldest zones in the state.

Across Himachal, minimum temperatures ranged between –6°C and 12°C, while maximum temperatures were recorded between 11°C and 28°C.

Most parts of the state witnessed dry weather, with bright sunshine during the day. According to the State Meteorological Department, dry conditions are expected to persist statewide until 21 November. Both minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to remain near normal during this period.

In major towns, Shimla recorded a minimum of 9°C and Dharamshala 9.8°C. Manali registered 2.7°C, Kangra 5.8°C, Solan 3°C, Hamirpur 5.8°C, Bilaspur 8.6°C, Mandi 5.7°C, Sundernagar 4.1°C, Bhuntar 3.1°C, Kufri 7.5°C, Narkanda 4.8°C, Kasauli 11.4°C, Kalpa 1°C, Nahan 8.4°C, Reckong Peo 3.2°C, Paonta Sahib 12°C, Keylong –2.9°C, and Kukumseri –4.1°C.

Una remained the warmest district with a maximum temperature of 27°C, while Tabo in Lahaul–Spiti continued to be the coldest location with a minimum of –6.6°C.
