CM Directs 100% Salary for AYUSH Doctors Pursuing Post-Graduation
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed that AYUSH doctors pursuing post-graduation in Himachal Pradesh will now receive 100% of their salary instead of 40%. The move aims to boost morale among medical professionals as the state promotes wellness tourism, strengthens AYUSH institutions, and plans new herbal and yoga initiatives.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed that doctors pursuing post-graduation under the AYUSH Department will now receive 100 percent of their salary, overturning the previous notification that limited the payout to 40 percent.
The decision was announced during a review meeting of the AYUSH Department chaired by the Chief Minister in Shimla today.
Boost to Wellness Tourism and AYUSH Infrastructure
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is actively promoting wellness tourism in Himachal Pradesh, and the AYUSH Department has a vital role to play in realizing this vision.
He highlighted that Himachal’s climate and natural environment provide an ideal setting for wellness and holistic health initiatives. To improve service delivery, he directed the department to analyze AYUSH institutions with high OPD turnout so that they can be further upgraded with additional staff and enhanced facilities.
“Institutions with higher patient inflow will be strengthened with adequate manpower and better amenities to serve people more effectively,” Sukhu said.
Digital Integration and Expansion Plans
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to link patient data with HIM Parivar numbers to ensure seamless tracking and efficient service delivery.
He added that the state is considering setting up a new AYUSH College in Nahan and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the Ayurvedic College at Paprola, including the early filling of vacant posts to improve academic and clinical output.
Focus on Herbal Development and Yoga Promotion
In a significant step toward sustainable health practices, Sukhu directed the department to develop herbal gardens in high-altitude regions such as Spiti Valley, capitalizing on the region’s rich biodiversity and medicinal plant potential.
He also instructed that yoga classes be introduced in Balika Ashrams (Girls’ Homes) and Old Age Homes across the state to promote holistic wellness and mental well-being among residents.
Officials Present
The meeting was attended by AYUSH Minister Yadvinder Goma, Secretary A. Shainamol, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Director Rohit Jamwal, and other senior officials of the department.
