Shimla Police has secured the top position in Himachal Pradesh for recovering lost and stolen mobile phones under the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) scheme operated by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
In recognition of this achievement, Shimla Police was awarded the First Prize at the Northern Region Conference organized by the Department of Telecommunications. Officials noted that Shimla’s success rate in tracing lost phones exceeds the national average.
Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Gandhi credited the success to the dedicated efforts of his team, the use of modern technology, and strong coordination with various agencies.
“Digital footprints and networking form the backbone of modern life, and Shimla Police handles the tracking of lost property and mobile phones with great care and sensitivity,” Gandhi said.
He added that tracking stolen devices is a complex process requiring experience and precision, and with the growing dependence on digital devices, mobile theft cases are also on the rise.
Expressing gratitude to the DoT, Gandhi said such recognition motivates the police force and enhances operational efficiency.
He reaffirmed that Shimla Police will continue to intensify efforts against cybercrime and mobile theft, ensuring a safe and law-abiding environment for all citizens.
