Shimla, November 5 | Diary Times News Bureau

In one of the biggest administrative reshuffles within the Himachal Pradesh Police Department, the State Government has transferred 15 IPS officers and 62 officers of the Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPPS). The changes include transfers of Superintendents of Police (SPs) in four key administrative districts — including Kangra — and two police districts.

The official transfer notification was issued by Acting Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta.

According to the notification, 2015-batch IPS officer Ashok Rattan, who was holding additional charge of Kangra and Nurpur, has been formally appointed as SP Kangra. Kulbhushan Verma (HPPS, 2008 batch), earlier posted as SP, State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Mandi Zone, has been transferred as SP Nurpur.

Madan Lal (HPPS, 2006 batch), Commandant of Home Guards, 6th Battalion, Mandi, has been posted as SP Kullu, replacing Dr. Kartikeyan Gokulchandran, who has been shifted to Police Headquarters, Shimla, as SP (Awaiting Posting).

Balbir Singh, SP (SV&ACB), Dharamshala, will now serve as SP Hamirpur, replacing Bhagat Singh Thakur, who is due to retire soon. Sushil Kumar, SP (Leave Reserve) at Police Headquarters, has been appointed as SP Kinnaur, replacing Abhishek Shekhar, who moves to Police Headquarters, Shimla, as SP (Law & Order).

Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar, SP (Leave Reserve) at the Police Headquarters, has been transferred as SP Chamba, while Abhishek Yadav, outgoing SP Chamba, has been posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) at Police Headquarters, Shimla. Vinod Kumar, Commandant of Home Guards, Chamba, has been posted as SP Baddi.

In addition to these postings, the government has made key senior-level transfers:

  • Abhishek Trivedi (IPS, 1996 batch), earlier ADGP (Law & Order), has been transferred as ADGP (Prisons & Correctional Services), Shimla, a role he was previously holding as additional charge.
  • Prem Kumar Thakur, IGP (Armed Police & Training), Shimla, will now serve as IGP, Police Academy, Training & Research, Shimla.
  • Bimal Gupta, IGP (SV&ACB), has been assigned additional charge as Principal, Police Training College (PTC).
  • Soumya Sambasivan, DIG (Northern Range), has been given additional charge as Principal, PTC as well.

This major reshuffle is aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, strengthening law enforcement, and ensuring more effective coordination within the police department across Himachal Pradesh.
